Lucifer was discovered on Oct. 29, 1964, by Elizabeth Roemer at 689-USNO, Flagstaff, AZ. The first photographic plate was taken on 1964-10-29.33137 or 7:57:10.368 UT, as seen here (28° Ari 04'01.53" Rx). At discovery, it was also out-of-bounds (OOB) at +29°31'27.47". The last perihelion was on Dec. 19, 2022, 10:35:43.4 UT (21° Cap 53'07.14"), also OOB at declination -24°49'01.15". And, its orbital period is 4.94 yrs., according to this epoch.
Although “named for the proud, rebellious archangel, identified with Satan, who was expelled from heaven,” as we see here, the association is primarily an imagined or concocted one that has no reference to a Hebrew myth, the Garden of Eden, or any such biblical character. In fact, it’s not used as a proper noun in the only mention of the word in the entire Bible, in Isa. 14:12, but, rather, as a borrowing by the KJV translators of Jerome’s lucifer qui mane oriebaris, probably based upon the Greek Septuagint rendering ὁ ἑωσφόρος ὁ πρωὶ ἀνατέλλων, “O’ Venus, who appeared early.” The Hebrew expression is Helel ben Shahar, meaning "shining one" or "son of the morning," with the correlation being to the Canaanite myth of the gods Helel and Shahar (“god of the dawn”). Isaiah’s reference, though, was actually to the King of Babylon, as any good Bible student knows. Later biblical translators were more accurate in their translations.
In contradistinction to the common interpretation, we associate Lucifer and the asteroid named after this Light Being with what the astrologer Robert Hand would label “Lucifera” (cf. “Planetary Periods” (Lecture Australis 1997 Congress, Adelaide, Australia, 1997)), as another term for Venus Phosphorous Lucifer, “the morning star.” There is “nothing Satanic about it … just a warrior goddess,” he says. The last Sun-Venus conjunction, re-labeled and popularized as the Venus Star Point® (VSP) by astrologer Arielle Guttman, was on Jun. 4, 2024, 13:33:26.82 UT (14° Gem 29'48.70"), direct in motion as an “evening star” or Venus Hesperus. The next VSP follows about 19 hours after the next Major Lunar Standstill, i.e., on Mar. 23, 2025, 1:07:30.023 UT (2° Ari 39'06.43"), and Venus is retrograde as the “morning star,” associated as mentioned with Lucifer. This is a fixed point in the chart, just like a previous New Moon, a perihelion/aphelion, perigee/apogee or planetary node, that astrologers might deem important in natal or mundane chart analysis. If fixed by definition, as they are, then they obviously don’t move forward or backward, despite the entrenched and stubborn belief most have that they do.
And, for those who see it worthy to consider other star points, the last Lucifer Star Point® (LSP) was on May 20, 2024, 3:00:08.06 UT (29° Tau 35'58.38"), also OOB at declination +30°10'52.49", and the next one is in 2029. We certainly think this conjunction is as important as the VSP, if a balanced and proper interpretation of Lucifer is to be formulated and promulgated.
One well-known astrologer has demonized the asteroid Lucifer in his book Lucifer: The Influence of Evil in the Horoscope, ed. Adina Mather (2016), where he states that “through recent research,” he discovered that the asteroid “has a direct correlation to the influence of evil in our lives” (p. 4). He also said in the next paragraph that it was “currently (Apr. 18, 2000) around 17 to 18 degrees of Gemini” when it was actually 20° Gemini. From Apr. 6-14, 2000, it was in those degrees but certainly not on Apr. 18! Why not just use an accurate ephemeris? He never mentions what “recent research” he did, unless he’s referring to an “exact” Pluto square to his natal Lucifer (7° Tau 57'35") in his 10th House, a late-night demonic encounter he attributes to Lucifer (p. 16). If Pluto was direct in motion, that would have been on Feb. 19, 1998, Rx on Mar. 29 or direct again Nov. 30, 1998. He shares no facts! So, probably Mar. 29, since he has Pluto Rx natally. He goes on to say that “all of the energy of evil can be symbolized in one astrological symbol, and that is the asteroid Lucifer” (p. 7). Utter nonsense! He says nothing at all in his lectures or 215 pages about Asmodeus, the “king of demons,” exactly conjunct the asteroid Lilith in his chart (Asmodeus’ lovely bride after her separation from Adam) or its transiting Rx in Scorpio in his 12th House at this supposed demonic encounter. No mention of Taguacipa either, just a blatant demonization or scapegoating of Lucifer (“Light-bearer”), as well as of Pandora (the First Woman, according to the Greeks) elsewhere in that book.
We submit that any conscious or unconscious scapegoating and demonization of Lucifer, Pandora and other mostly pure, archetypal entities, without any consideration of the well-known malevolent asteroids in one’s chart, is underhanded, unprofessional and should be condemned. Pandora had no idea what was in the jar she opened, but Zeus certainly did! And, as R. Hand rightly noted, Lucifer has “nothing satanic about it” but is rather a pure representation and exponent/bearer of Light, exposing the evil and malicious intent or projections within the mind, just like Chiron, Apollo, Tukmit, Mithra, Kenos, Izhdubar, Ahau and other such like-minded Beings. I’ve studied the discovery charts, analyzed thousands of natal charts using these asteroids, and I can say straightforwardly that if someone has an issue with Lucifer or Pandora, he should get his head examined – perhaps by an exorcist!
I would also suggest doing some quality research on Lucifer by first analyzing the proper discovery chart presented, notice the biquintiles of the Sun and Moon to 2010EN65 (“Triumphant Messiah”), look also at - not intentionally ignore like the astrologer I mentioned - the obvious indicators of evil in charts, especially one’s own, and present to students the real difference between Light and Darkness, Truth and Disinformation.
