Air India Flight 171 – Doomed flight?
The scheduled international flight from Ahmadabad Airport to London Gatwick Airport was on June 12, 2025, 1:38 pm IST. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed “approximately 30 seconds” after takeoff (0.92 mi. from runway) into a mess hall and some hostel buildings (see diagrams). There were 241 fatalities and 1 survivor, as well as 38+ ground fatalities and 61+ ground injuries. The geographic coordinates of the crash are precisely: 72°36'45.64"E, 23°03'21.30"N (Google Earth).
The Astrolog chart presented here is based upon these coordinates and the 13:38 IST scheduled departure with 30 seconds of flight time added - 13:38:30. The clock time of departure is based upon the LMT of the standard meridian (UTC+5.5 or 82.5°E), however, which ignores the LMT equivalent of the departure from take-off and, more specifically, to the crash site – hence, the need for correction of the input time.
The incorrect post-1883 standard formula used to calculate the UT1 of the event is: CT = UT1 + TZ offset, where CT = civil time, TZ = time zone and UT1 = the rotational time scale (formerly GMT) implemented to calculate the planets. With the correct formula, however, the coordinates of the crash site are considered, i.e., the LMT variation (longitude in time) is subtracted from the civil time (13:38:30 - 00:39:32.957 = 12:58:57.043), and to arrive at the proper UT1, we subtract 5.5 hours = 7:28:57.043 to calculate the planets as seen over the crash site. The correct, simplified formula for doing this is: standard time = universal time + time-zone offset - LMT variation or its equivalent: CT = UT1 + ΔT_zone - [(λ_obs - λ_std) × 4 / 60]. The civil time (1:38:30 pm IST) used to calculate the angles of the chart is already properly done with our beloved software, so there is no need to correct for this. The observer’s longitude is considered in the standard appropriate formula, since sidereal time is being calculated. What was intentionally ignored post-1883 was the other formula that determines the UT1 for planet calculation, of which rather postulates or imagines incorrectly that the observer is standing on the standard meridian. This fantasy is rejected in our computation of the chart.
You’ll notice the chart ruler Venus (6° Tau 09'59.208") is exactly (within 0.1') quincunx the Meridian 1st House cusp or EP (6° Lib 09'03.664"). The implication of an 8th House quincunx from the chart ruler is an ominous transformation or transition of sorts – in this case, of 279 fatalities and many injuries. For comparison, 15' on the EP = 1 minute of time, and 1' = 4 seconds or less. To achieve this precision, though, the input time needs adjusting for the actual local time of the event (13:58:57.043) and the UT1 (7:28:57.043) that’s used for planet calculation.
The “approximately 30 seconds” reported flight time after lift-off appears to be quite accurate (watch the CCTV video here). This video records the departure at 13:38:23 IST with lift-off at 13:38:41 with exactly 30 seconds of flight time, and a crash occurring at 13:39:11. The 1st House (EP) of the CCTV take-off chart (not shown here) is applying to the actual quincunx to Venus at ~13:38:28. That occurred after the decision to depart at 13:38:23 - in other words, not even a third down the runway. In this analysis we consider the actual departure time (13:38:23 IST) as being the indicator to shed light on this fated event. On the other hand, had the 1st House quincunx been separating from Venus BEFORE take-off at 13:38:23, perhaps the pilots would have been alerted of the most likely dual-engine failure. You’ll also notice the apparent Moon’s nodes and apogee (BML) are here calculated not the imaginary “moving” points you’d normally see in a standard chart. In other words, Venus is separating from BML not applying to the conjunction.
This LMT correction doesn’t require topocentric ephemerides, nor does it alter your chart angles. It simply restores accuracy in planetary calculations by honoring the truth of your position on Earth - a truth that’s been neglected for 142 years.
